Plymouth Spring is bringing NitroSprings to AISTech 2026
NitroSprings are Extreme-duty force solutions designed and manufactured to provide reliability and longevity in a safe manner for critical applications. The number one choice for challenging environments such as those presented by steel rolling mills.
Rolling mills subject critical components to eccentric loads, unplanned impact, corrosive fluids, heat, dirt, and debris. Attention must be paid to these components to ensure they are performing as expected. At some point, reliability engineers and roll shop maintenance professionals alike must plan preventative maintenance and or replacement. Where spring elements are used, time in operation will ultimately exhibit load drops, resulting from fatigue, corrosion, unplanned excessive loading, and debris jamming. At this point, components no longer clamp, provide separation force, or the like. Then quality suffers, or worse, production stops.
Why?
The answer is springs. The fix. Extreme duty springs.
At AISTech 2026, we are presenting a better option. Stop by Plymouth Spring at booth 108 to see our solution—NitroSprings.

The Iron and Steel Exposition will have 600+ companies across two floors and 500+ technical presentations covering the full steelmaking process. It’s the industry’s biggest event of the year, returning to Pittsburgh for the first time in four years.
NitroSpings: The Case for Nitrogen Over Coil
Why NitroSprings are the best solution: more force, smaller package, no preload required.
One NitroSpring delivers 275% more force than a coil spring of the same size, and 120% more force than a die spring of equivalent dimensions. We are no longer talking about marginal improvement. This is a fundamentally different performance ceiling in the same footprint.
In the steel mill environment, this matters. When a die spring compresses, it needs preload to function; you are then burning the stroke before generating useful force. NitroSprings arrived charged. No preload required. From the first millimeter of travel, the stroke is available. This translates to more consistent blank holding, better material control, and more predictable part geometry across production runs.
When the tool heats up through a shift, wire springs change behavior. The load profile shifts as the material fatigues. However, NitroSprings maintain consistent force output because the force is set by gas pressure, not by mechanical deformation. What you dialed in at setup is what you get at hour eight.
The Product Line
We offer NitroSprings across a range of configurations built for different application demands. Every variant can be recharged and degassed in the field. If you are managing a toolroom, this matters. In a toolroom, you don’t want to be pulling springs for bench service every time maintenance rolls around.
Micro and Mini NitroSprings
Micro and Mini NitroSprings are purpose-built to replace die springs in applications where space is premium. Already charged, no preload setup required. Available in 12 to 24.9 mm diameter configurations, depending on load requirements.
High Force and Ultra-High Force NitroSprings
When applications demand extreme force in confined space requirements, standard die springs run out of options fast. High and ultra-high force configurations deliver exceptional load capacity without requiring a larger tool footprint. For steel mill tooling running high-tonnage applications, this is where coil springs can’t compete.
Long Stroke NitroSprings
With stroke lengths up to 200mm and low force increase across the travel, they are the right choice for vertical counterbalancing applications. Long stroke NitroSprings are available in force ranges from 200N to 10,000N, including stainless steel variants for corrosive environments.
Threaded NitroSprings
Threaded body design for applications where the spring needs to be fixed in place and movement can’t be tolerated. Stability is built into the mounting.
Built to Last. Rebuilt When Needed
The most underrated advantage of NitroSprings in a production environment is serviceability. When a wire spring fails, you replace it. When a NitroSpring reaches the end of its service life, it can be overhauled. Sealing elements and wear components are replaced, and the spring returns to like-new performance.
Fewer replacements. Less downtime. Less inventory to manage. For a roll shop running many chocks in operation, those numbers add up quickly.
Steel Mills: One of Our Core Industries
NitroSprings didn’t just end up in rolling mills by chance. They are one of the primary environments they’re designed for. The special sealing technology that keeps fluid, dust, and debris out of NitroSpring is designed specifically with this extreme environment in mind. Whether the environment is a hot mill, cold mill, temper mill for any and all steel products, including but not limited to tube, sheet, rebar, and structural, there’s a NitroSpring for your operation.
